๐ŸŽ Sunday morning recap of Week 7

Happy Sunday morning, college football fans!

We logged off last night before a few ranked matchups were over, so here is a look at how the final two ranked contests played out.

No. 18 BYU holds off Arizona in Double OT

The Cougars improved to 6-0 with a 33-27 comeback victory over Arizona in Double OT Saturday night. It was No. 18 BYU's defense that saved the day, getting a game-winning fourth-down stop.

After scoring 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to tie it at 24 apiece, the Cougars took a six-point lead in Double OT behind freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier's seven-yard rushing touchdown. They failed the two-point conversion attempt, but that's when the defense rose to the occasion.

On fourth down, Wildcats quarterback Noah Fifita's pass tipped off the hands of wideout Javin Whatley in the end zone. The win marks the second straight season of BYU winning its first six games and the seventh time in program history.

Utah pummels No. 21 Arizona State without Sam Leavitt

Although ranked, No. 21 Arizona State knew the task ahead of them would be tricky without star quarterback Sam Leavitt, who was out with an injury.

The final score proved that, as Utah downed the Sun Devils, 42-10, in a contest where ASU struggled to get anything going on both sides of the ball. The defense couldn't stop the Utes' rushing attack, allowing 279 yards on the ground. Utah scored two touchdowns in both the second and third quarters, and one each in the first and fourth.

Arizona State's lone score came in the third, and they kicked a field goal in the first. Sixth-year quarterback Jeff Sims went 18 for 38 with 124 passing yards and no touchdowns. They will look to redeem themselves next week against a top-10 ranked opponent in Texas Tech.

๐Ÿ‘‹ Week 7 wrap up

Alright, college football fans. We are heading out for the night, but there's a few more games, featuring a couple top 25 teams, still duking it out on the gridiron. Catch the second half of these games tonight:

And before we go, here are some of the best moments from Week 7:

๐Ÿค˜ Recap of the Red River Rivalry and Texasโ€™s upset win

No. 10 Georgia beats Auburn with second-half power surge

No. 10 Georgia downed Auburn, 20-10, spoiling Cam Newtonโ€™s jersey retirement after scoring 20 unanswered points in the second half.

The first 30 minutes of the contest were all Tigers.

Leading 10-3, Auburn held the Bulldogs to 78 yards of total offense to their 237. They nearly went up three scores, but quarterback Jackson Arnold fumbled at the goal line which led to a UGA field goal.

The momentum completely shifted in the second 30 minutes of play to Georgia. They outscored the Tigers 17-0 with 218 total yards to Auburnโ€™s 40. The victory upped the Bulldogs win streak versus the Tigers to nine.

Southern California handles No. 15 Michigan

Sometimes, itโ€™s rare to see a walk-on get a lot of playing time early in their college careers, especially as a freshman.

Southern California freshman running back King Miller defied those odds, though, rushing for 158 yards with a touchdown to lead the Trojans past No. 15 Michigan, 31-13. Quarterback Jayden Maiava threw for 265 yards and two scores as well.

The Wolverines scored just once on their first six offensive drives and showed life in the fourth with a 69-yard touchdown. However, their mojo stopped there, turning it over on downs and quarterback Bryce Underwood throwing an interception on the next two possessions.

Penn State, Florida State suffer third-straight losses

It was a rough day in Happy Valley and Tallahassee. Both Penn State and Florida State lost at home for their third consecutive contests โ€” the former to Northwestern and the latter to Pitt.

The Nittany Lions struggled to find a rhythm throughout the entire contest and the Wildcats responded to every punch PSU threw. After Penn Stateโ€™s fourth quarter touchdown, NU answered with a touchdown and game-winning turnover on downs. In the 22-21 loss, Penn State lost quarterback Drew Allar to a season-ending lower leg injury.

The Panthers beat the Seminoles 34-31, scoring 13 unanswered points in the fourth. Freshman quarterback Mason Heintschel shined, throwing for 321 yards and two touchdowns and added 64 yards on the ground.

No. 7 Indiana claims major road win over No. 3 Oregon

No. 7 Indiana secured a statement win over No. 3 Oregon, winning 30-20. It was the programโ€™s first AP Top 5 win since 1967.

The Hoosiers and Ducks traded punches in the first three quarters, tied at 20 in the first few minutes of the fourth after Oregonโ€™s pick-six.

After that, it was all Indiana. They scored 10 unanswered points and intercepted quarterback Dante Moore on back-to-back drives โ€” both with less than seven minutes left in the contest. The takeaways reflected Oregonโ€™s offensive struggles in the second half, producing just 64 total yards.

Doink off the helmet โžก๏ธ Pick Six

College football has featured a variety of pick-sixes this week, but the craziest might've come between San Jose State and Wyoming.

On 4th and 2, Spartans quarterback Xavier Ward's pass was tipped in the air by Cowboys linebacker Evan Eller, bounced off defensive lineman Lucas Samsula's helmet and caught by linebacker Brayden Johnson. Without hesitation, Johnson turned around and raced toward the end zone for a 65-yard pick-six.

Outscoring San Jose State 21-0 in the second half, Wyoming climbed back to beat them 35-28.

๐Ÿ˜ฑ Auburn fumbles at the goal line

With a chance to go up three scores, Auburn quarterback Jackson Arnold fumbled at the goal line in the second quarter, halting all the Tigers' momentum.

The play was reviewed and the call was upheld. Here is a closer look.

๐Ÿ’จ South Carolina's 72-yard rushing TD

South Carolina running back Matt Fuller put the Gamecocks on the board in a major way against LSU with a 72-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter.

Leaving multiple defenders in the dust, Fuller's emphatic run was the team's longest play of the season and gave South Carolina a 7-3 lead.

๐Ÿ˜Ž Afternoon window recap

The second slate of Saturday's games has come to a close. Here is a look at some of the biggest games and highlights from that window.

Northwestern hands Penn State third straight loss

Things have gone from bad to worse in Happy Valley. Penn State suffered its third straight loss, this week to Northwestern, losing 22-21. It marks the Wildcats' first win against the Nittany Lions since 2015.

NU never allowed PSU quarterback Drew Allar to get comfortable, even in Beaver Stadium. The senior went 13 for 20 with 137 passing yards, while the offense produced 274 total yards. Allar was carted off the field late in the fourth quarter after a third-down quarterback scramble and was later declared out for the season.

Although Northwestern tallied just eight more total yards than Penn State, they responded to any adversity thrown their way. Following PSUโ€™s scoring drive early in the fourth, NU completed an 11-play, 75-yard drive and forced a turnover on downs on the next two possessions to ultimately win the game.

Falling out of the top-25 after last weekโ€™s loss to unranked UCLA, the Nittany Lions have fallen deeper in the hole.

No. 7 Indiana snags road win over No. 3 Oregon

No. 7 Indiana secured a statement win over No. 3 Oregon on the road, winning 30-20, claiming the programโ€™s first AP Top 5 win since 1967.

Although a 10-point difference, the Hoosiers and Ducks were neck-and-neck through the first three quarters, separated by seven or fewer points. They tied at 20 in the first few minutes of the fourth after Oregonโ€™s pick-six.

It was all Indiana after that, though, outscoring the Ducks 10-0 and intercepting quarterback Dante Moore on consecutive drives. Both takeaways came with less than seven minutes left in the contest. Outside of defensive back Brandon Finneyโ€™s pick-six and field goal in the third, Oregonโ€™s offense racked up just 64 total yards in the second half.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Recap of the Red River Rivalry and Texasโ€™s upset win

Other notes:

  • Colorado downed No. 22 Iowa State, 24-17, securing its first Big 12 win of the season
  • UNLV remains undefeated in 51-48 victory over Air Force where both teams combined for 1,200 total yards of offense
  • Nebraska comes back to beat Maryland, 34-31, through seven-play, 81-yard scoring drive with two and a half minutes left
  • Navy beats Temple 32-31 behind a 51-yard rushing touchdown by quarterback Blake Horvath and two-point conversion with less than a minute left

๐Ÿ‘€ Penn State nearing third straight loss?

Northwestern is closing in on handing Penn State its third straight loss, leading 22-21 with less than three minutes left in the contest after forcing a turnover on downs.

Rough would be an understatement to describe the Nittany Lions' last few weeks, as they lost to then-No. 6 Oregon and unranked UCLA in back-to-back weeks.

Quarterback Drew Allar was injured after the third down play on the last drive and was carted off the wheel minutes later with what seemed to be a left leg injury. Ethan Grunkemeyer entered for him.

๐Ÿซจ Oregon's pick six ties it in the 4th

Down 20-13 in the first few minutes of the fourth quarter, No. 3 Oregon's defense needed a stop.

Enter defensive back Brandon Finney Jr.

The freshman picked off No. 7 Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza and returned for a touchdown to even the score at 20 apiece. It's just Mendoza's second interception of the season.

๐Ÿ™Œ Toe tap execution

Dylan Raiola escapes the Maryland pass rush and finds his big tight end Luke Lindenmeyer on the side of the endzone for a score. The Cornhuskers now lead 24-14 late in the second quarter. Railoa has three passing TDs in the first half.

8:30 pm, October 11, 2025

โœˆ๏ธ Bryce Lance house call

Trey Lance's younger brother continues to shine for North Dakota State, taking this jet sweep 75 yards for six. He has now scored a touchdown in four-straight contests as the Bison lead 7-3 over Southern Illinois in the second quarter.

๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ Georgia Tech fakes out everyone

Georgia Tech had the Hokies and even the camera man lost on this punt return, faking out the defense with a decoy return man. The Yellow Jackets earned a solid return after the fake, setting up a Haynes King passing touchdown to take a 15-0 lead over Va Tech in the first quarter.

๐ŸชŸ Noon window recap

After the first slate of Saturday's games, here are some of the biggest storylines entering the afternoon.

No. 8 Alabama holds off No. 14 Missouri
The Tide pick up another signature road win, knocking off undefeated Mizzou in Columbia 27-24. It was a tight contest throughout, but Ty Simpson continued to impress in the win with 200 yards and three touchdown passes.

The Bama defense shut down star running back Ahmad Hardy, holding the SECโ€™s leading rusher to just 52 yards on the ground. Two pivotal fourth downs changed the game as Alabama stopped a Tigerโ€™s fake punt inches short of the line to gain, before converting its own fourth down on the ensuing possession that led to a late touchdown.

Mizzou had a chance to tie it late, but a Beau Pribula pick at midfield sealed the game with just over 30 seconds to play.

Pitt hands No. 25 Florida State third-straight loss
After opening the season taking down Alabama, the Seminoles are floundering, falling at home to the Panthers, 34-31. FSU falls to 0-3 in the ACC, and the Seminoles have not won a conference matchup since Sept. 21, 2024.

Pitt pulled away in the fourth, putting up 13 unanswered behind a solid performance from true freshman quarterback Mason Heintschel who threw for 321 yards and two scores while adding 64 yards on the ground.

The Seminoles tacked on a late touchdown to cut the deficit to just three, but Mike Norvellโ€™s squad was unable to convert on the onside kick as Pitt chewed the clock out.

7:11 pm, October 11, 2025

๐Ÿ’จ Mustangs pick six

Justin Medlock turns on the burners, taking a Stanford interception 96 yards to the house. SMU leads 31-10 over the Cardinal with under five minutes to play in the fourth quarter.

6:46 pm, October 11, 2025

๐Ÿšจ WAZZOU TAKES THE LEAD

Washington State's Kirby Vorhees takes this 46 yards for six as the Cougars take a 14-10 lead over No. 4 Ole Miss in Oxford. The Rebels are on the ropes midway through the third quarter.
