β‘οΈUnion survives Game 2, advances to Ice Breaker championship
Up 6-0 with eight minutes to go in the game, it looked like Union was on cruise control with a spot in the Ice Breaker championship locked up. But Saint Anselm had other plans, exploding for three goals in 31 seconds to cut the lead to three with 7:31 to go. The Hawks then added another goal with just over five minutes to go, pulling within two. Union added a seventh goal to bring the lead back to three, but another Saint Anselm goal with 2:36 left to go made it a 7-5 game.
Ultimately, Saint Anselm would run out of time in the comeback effort, giving Union the 7-5 win and a date with No. 1 Wisconsin in the Ice Breaker championship game.
Union finished the game with a season-high 53 shots to Saint Anselm's 22. Saint Anselm's Lucy DeCoteau had two goals in the comeback effort, while Union's Megan Duplantie had two goals on 10 shots. Saint Anselm freshman goaltender Kayla Czukoski made 46 saves in the loss, while Union's Monja Wagner made 17 saves on 23 shots.
