👍 TEXAS A&M CLINCHES NATIONAL TITLE IN A SWEEP
No. 3 Texas A&M volleyball earned the 2025 NCAA DI national title with a sweep over No. 1 Kentucky on Sunday, Dec. 21. Inside a sold-out T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo. and backed by a raucous A&M crowd, the Aggies proved their "why not us" mentality all the way to a national championship.
The Aggies found the Set 1 win in a dramatic fashion, overcoming a six point deficit to finish 26-24, while holding the Cats to just .195 on hitting. They took that momentum from the first and ran with it, earning a dominant 25-15 victory in the second, holding Big Blue to just -.021 on hitting while forcing 12 errors.
With history in the balance, the Aggies took the court in the third, controlling their destiny. They stormed out to a 6-1 and lead the entire way, finishing with a 25-20 win to clinch the sweep.
Outside Logan Lednicky powered 11 kills on .250 hitting alongside Kyndal Stowers’ 10 daggers on a .304 clip to lead the Maroon and White offense.
The Aggies defense held Big Blue to just .148 hitting through the shutout match, with Ifenna Cos-Okpalla responsible for four of their seven blocks.
Their win in straight sets capped their historic season, marking the Aggies’ first ever national title in program history under Head Coach Jamie Morrison’s AVCA Coach of the Year campaign. Texas A&M knocked off three straight No. 1 seeds in Nebraska, Pitt and Kentucky on their way to the national crown.
A homegrown Aggie team with 13 out of 17 players from Texas, proved to be more than capable. The once underdogs of the 2025 DI NCAA volleyball tournament have officially been crowned the champions of women’s college volleyball, because "why not Texas A&M?"
