🌽 No. 1 Nebraska sweeps No. 16 Penn State, 3-0

No. 1 Nebraska shutdown No. 16 Penn State in a commanding sweep, 3-0 on Friday, Oct. 3. The Huskers’ silenced a bouncing Rec Hall crowd on the way to their dominant victory in the storied rivalry matchup. 

Penn State opened up play with the first two points in set one, fueling the rowdy Nittany Lion fans. But Nebraska took control and turned the momentum in a lights out performance, finishing the set 25-6 while hitting nearly .600 and never looked back 

Penn State put up more of a fight in the second, but Nebraska prevailed, 25-15. The Huskers held the Penn State offense to -.141 and .031 hitting in the first and second sets. Big Red continued to roll on in the third, clinching the convincing three set sweep, 25-13. 

Efficiency was the name of the game for the Nebraska Huskers, battling one of the best serving teams in the country. Bergen Reilly spread out her offense to a .437 hitting percentage with seven different players notching at least one kill and four service aces of their own while tallying 26 assists, eight digs and three blocks herself. 

The balanced Husker team featured jaw-dropping back-court defensive plays from Olivia Mauch and digs by middle Andi Jackson. Meanwhile Rebekah Allick had a lights-out performance on both sides of the ball, leading her team with nine kills on a .615 clip while sharing four blocks with Jackson up front. 

With the win, the Huskers extend their all-time record to 29-13 over Penn State and avenge their two losses from 2024. Nebraska now stands at 13-0 after its sixth ranked win of the season.

Nebraska jumps to a 2-0 lead after taking set two, 25-15 over Penn State. Rebekah Allick continues to lead the Husker offense with seven kills on a .667 clip. Bergen Reilly is beautifully orchestrating the offense to a .510 hitting percentage while seven different Huskers registering a kill.

After falling in a 0-2 deficit to open up play, Nebraska took control and shutdown Penn State, 25-6. Rebekah Allick and Harper Murray share three kills each to lead the Huskers while big-time blocks by Andi Jackson and Taylor Landfair fueled the defense.
