SOUTH CAROLINA STATE WINS IN 4OT

Celebration Bowl 2025

South Carolina State overcame a 21-point first half deficit beat Prairie View A&M, 40-38 in a four-overtime thriller to capture its second Celebration Bowl.

After neither team scored in the third overtime, the Bulldogs punched it in on a successful two-point conversion from quarterback Ryan Stubblefield to Tyler Smith. The Panthers were unable to respond, with quarterback Cameron Peters getting tackled before reaching the end zone.

Stubblefield, who entered the game late in the second quarter for injured starter William Atkins IV, was a catalyst in the victory, throwing for 234 yards and finishing with three total touchdowns.

Prairie View's Diego Alfaro game-winning field goal missed by inches to right, keeping the game tied 38-38. 

Each team will now get a one play to convert a two-point attempt at the three-yard line.

Prairie View interception! PVAMU 38, SCSU 38 | Second Overtime

Prairie View defensive back Corneilus Davis intercepted SC State quarterback Ryan Stubblefield on third down, handing the ball back to his offense.

Stubblefield's pass tipped off the hands of intended wideout Nigel Johnson and into Davis lurking in the end zone. If the Panthers score, they win.

Prairie View, SC State trade field goals; PVAMU 38, SCSU 38 | Overtime

Prairie View's Diego Alfaro and South Carolina State's Nico Cavanillas Alti both put points on the board during each team's first offensive possession of overtime. The game is tied again, 38-38.

Alfaro made a 36-yard field goal, while Alti nailed a 40-yarder.

What a throw! What a catch! What a run! Prairie View A&M is back in front after quarterback Cameron Peters stood tall in the pocket, hitting wide receiver Cameron Bonner on a sail route. Bonner tiptoed up the sideline for the 78-yard touchdown.

Peters now has completed 22 of 31 passes (71 percent) for 401 yards and four touchdowns while accounting for another score on the ground.

Ryan Stubblefield is showing off his grit, rushing in for a 1-yard touchdown to tie the 2025 Celebration Bowl at 28.

The eight-play South Carolina State drive got into scoring range after a 33-yard pass to Jordan Smith, who's stepping up in the second half, too.

What a return from halftime. We saw 28 points scored during the third quarter as South Carolina State rallied back to tie the game before Prairie View A&M retook the lead. That's where things stand now as the Panthers lead 28-21.

Prairie View A&M is back in front after quarterback Cameron Peters found wide receiver Andre Dennis for a 13-yard touchdown. It's Peters' fourth total touchdown of the day and ends a 21-point unanswered run from South Carolina State.

After a three-and-out, South Carolina State found the end zone yet again as wide receiver Jordan Smith scored on a 19-yard touchdown reception. The Bulldogs have scored 21-unanswered-points to open the second half! It's Jordan Smith's second of the half.

It's the largest comeback in Celebration Bowl history.

South Carolina State is right back in this one after another scoring drive. Wide receiver Jordan Smith scored on a 10-yard rushing touchdown.

The score was set up by great field position after a punt return and a big 38-yard completion from quarterback Ryan Stubblefield to wide receiver Nigel Johnson.

Fumble to TD! PVAMU 21, SCSU 7 | 3Q - 11:19

Two plays have South Carolina Stte right back in the game early in the second half. First, the Bulldog defense stepped up, forcing a fumble on an attempted reverse from Prairie View A&M. South Carolina State defensive lineman Jordan Dollard recovered and returned the ball to the Prairie View A&M 5-yard line. From there it took just one play for the Bulldogs to find the first time of the day as Tyler Smith found pay dirt.

Halftime — Prairie View A&M 21, South Carolina State 0

Prairie View A&M dominated South Carolina State in the first half of the 2025 Celebration Bowl. The Panthers lead 21-0 after an amazing first half from quarterback Cameron Peters. 

Peters completed 65 percent of his passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns, rushing for 34 yards and a touchdown and catching a 24-yard pass. Peters hasn't done it alone, though, the Prairie View A&M defense has had a day, too.

The Panthers limited South Carolina State to just 19 rushing yards and only 61 passing yards in the first two quarters. PVAMU forced five punts and made three sacks as the South Carolina State offense never got past the Prairie View A&M 49-yard line.
