Β½ At the half

After a roller coaster of an opening slate the second window has offered more highlights and close scores. Here is everything you need to know.

Virginia Tech leads No. 16 Louisville 16-7 at half

Virginia Tech led No. 16 Louisville 16-7 at halftime. After falling behind early on a 52-yard touchdown run by Louisville’s Isaac Brown, the Hokies responded with a nine-play, five-minute drive capped by a three-yard rushing score from quarterback Kyron Drones to tie the game at 7.

Special teams swung momentum late in the first quarter when P.J. Prioleau blocked a punt into the end zone, giving Virginia Tech a 9-7 lead.

The Hokies extended their advantage in the second quarter with a  Cameron Seldon score from five yards out.

Virginia Tech’s defense held strong, forcing a turnover on downs on a fourth-and-1 late in the half. The Hokies outgained the Cardinals 141-132 before the break, with Drones completing nine of 13 passes for 57 yards and a touchdown.

No. 13 Texas Tech up on Kansas State

Texas Tech took a 12-7 lead into halftime Saturday against Kansas State after kicker Stone Harrington drilled a 55-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter.

The Red Raiders capitalized on Kansas State’s miscues late in the first half, including a costly fumble by wide receiver Jayce Brown deep in Wildcats territory that set up Cameron Dickey’s one-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt doinked off the upright, giving Texas Tech a 9-7 lead with 3:45 left before the break.

Kansas State’s offense stalled following the turnover, going three-and-out on its final drive of the half after quarterback Avery Johnson was sacked on third down. The Wildcats had opened the game strong, taking a 7-0 lead on Johnson’s 46-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, but penalties and turnovers derailed their momentum.
Harrington’s long field goal at the horn extended the Red Raiders’ lead to five. Texas Tech had previously scored on a 29-yard field goal to cut Kansas State’s early lead.

No. 2 Indiana up big at half against Maryland

No. 2 Indiana dominated the first half Saturday at SECU Stadium, taking a 20-3 lead over Maryland behind a balanced offensive attack and a smothering defense.

After throwing an interception on Indiana’s opening drive that set up Maryland’s lone points, Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza responded with a seven-yard touchdown run and a 22-yard scoring strike to Omar Cooper Jr. Mendoza, a Heisman Trophy frontrunner, finished the half 10-of-17 passing for 159 yards with one touchdown, one interception and one rushing score.

Florida tied with No. 5 Georgia

Unranked Florida is hanging with No. 5 Georgia 10-10 after one half of play.

Georgia opened strong with an efficient eight-play, 75-yard drive capped by Gunner Stockton’s eight-yard touchdown pass to Dillon Bell. But Florida responded quickly as Lagway hit Eugene Wilson III on a 40-yard strike to tie the game. The Gators took advantage of a tipped-ball interception from defensive back Devin Moore to set up a 22-yard field goal by Trey Smack, giving them their first lead.

The Gators’ defense kept Georgia off balance through the first half, forcing multiple punts but the Bulldogs managed a late field goal to tie the game up going into the break.

🀨 Back-to-back safeties for William & Mary

William & Mary is leading UAlbany, 28-0 at halftime, but those 28 points didn't come in typical fashion. The Tribe blocked TWO punts, scoring safeties on back-to-back UAlbany possessions.

🐊 Florida tip drill INT gives Gators a lead

Unreal concentration from Florida defensive back Devin Moore as he hauls in a tipped pass from Georgia's Gunner Stockton with one hand. The Gator's capitalized on the turnover with a field goal, taking a 10-7 lead near the end of the first quarter.

🀯 SMU upsets No. 10 Miami in overtime

We just had an instant classic in the ACC. SMU shocks No. 10 Miami in overtime, 26-20.

This one started slow, with Miami only holding a 10-7 lead at halftime, but things picked up in the second half, as SMU took the lead in the third quarter with a TD run from QB Kevin Jennings. The Hurricanes answered back with a TD of their own to retake the lead, then the teams traded field goals, giving Miami a 20-17 lead in the fourth.

SMU looked like it would tie it again on the next drive, but a holding penalty pushed the Mustangs back, and the 42-yard field goal attempt just barely missed with 3:10 to go. That wouldn’t be the end of this one, though, as the Mustangs got a defensive stop, and kicker Sam Keltner got his redemption with the game-tying FG to force overtime.

Miami got the ball first in OT, and the Hurricanes brought it all the way down to the SMU seven-yard line before Ahmaad Moses intercepted Miami QB Carson Beck at the one-yard line.

On SMU's possession, RB T.J. Harden stormed into the endzone for six, sealing the win for the Mustangs.

SMU gets its first win over an AP top-10 opponent since 1983 and its first at home since 1974. No. 10 Miami falls to 6-2 as the Hurricanes take a major hit to their CFP hopes.

πŸͺŸ Noon window recap

We had lots of action in the noon window in Week 10. If you missed any of the action earlier today, we've got you covered with the best finishes from the early games.

No. 20 Texas survives to beat No. 9 Vanderbilt

No. 20 Texas gets a massive conference win against No. 9 Vanderbilt, 34-31. The Longhorns jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, scoring 17 points in a row, starting with a 75-yard TD from Ryan Wingo off a screen pass on the first play of the game. Texas took a 24-10 lead into halftime and extended it with in the third quarter with another TD and a field goal to go up 24 heading into the fourth quarter.

But Vandy wouldn’t go away, storming back with 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to make it a one-possession game with 33 seconds to go. It looked like the Commodores would come all the way back, but they just missed recovering the onside kick attempt, and Texas escapes with the win. Arch Manning finished the day with 328 passing yards and three TDs, while Diego Pavia had 365 yards and three TDs of his own in a back-and-forth quarterback duel.

West Virginia shocks No. 22 Houston

West Virginia upsets No. 22 Houston in a huge Big 12 road win, 45-35. The Mountaineers got out to a hot start, scoring back-to-back rushing touchdowns in the first quarter. Turnovers plagued the Cougars all afternoon, as they lost two fumbles and threw two interceptions. One of those fumbles led to a WVU touchdown, and a third quarter interception that led to a field goal. Jordan Scruggs extended the Mountaineers' lead with another interception, which he returned 80-yards for a pick-six to add even more drama to the Big 12 title chase.

QB Scotty Fox Jr. Finished the day with two rushing touchdowns and 65 yards on the ground, adding 157 yards and a touchdown through the air.

Duke takes down Clemson in Death Valley

The Blue Devils came into Death Valley looking for their first road win over Clemson since 1980. Duke snapped the 15-game streak, winning 46-45. The Blue Devils stunned the Tigers with a late touchdown and two-point conversion, taking a one-point lead with just 40 seconds to go in the game.

Duke QB Darian Mensah finished with 361 passing yards and four TDs through the air while RB Que'Sean Brown added two scores on the ground in an offensive explosion.

πŸ… Unreal effort from Princeton receiver

🀩 Quarterback spotlight

While they may not be involved in ranked matchups, two quarterbacks have put on a show in the first half of the noon slate.

Duke's Darian Mensah has 241 yards and four passing touchdowns as the Blue Devils are knotted 28-28 with Clemson at half. Mensah and company are looking to turn the tide against the Tigers who have not beaten Clemson in Death valley since 1980.

Baylor's Sawyer Robertson is also having a day, tallying 247 passing yards and two touchdowns against UCF after the first 30 minutes. He has connected with his big tight end Michael Trigg for 67 yards and a touchdown, but he is spreading the ball well with nine different receivers hauling in a catch.

βœ”οΈ Halftime check-in

We are 30 minutes deep into Week 10, here are a few of the top storylines to keep an eye on as the afternoon rolls on:

Texas offense rolling against No. 9 Vandy
After an offensive explosion to pull off a historic comeback against Mississippi State last weekend, the Longhorns continue to roll at home against the Commodores, leading 24-10. Arch Manning is 12 of 15 for 200 yards and two touchdowns, while Vandy's Diego Pavia is 14 of 18 for 153 yards and a score. Vanderbilt scored with 10 seconds left in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 14 right before half.

No. 1 Ohio State in a battle with Penn State
Ohio State leads Penn State only 17-14 at the break in Columbus as the Nittany Lions punched in a touchdown with seconds remaining in the half, capitalizing on a Buckeye fumble. Ohio State had only allowed five touchdowns all season entering this matchup. The Buckeyes' star wide receiver duo is doing its thing, however, with Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate each hauling in a touchdown in the first half.

SMU testing No. 10 Miami
The Mustangs have stifled the Canes offense in the first half, as Miami leads just 10-7 at the break. A long punt return from Malachi Toney set up a field goal with seconds remaining in the half to break the stalemate. The Canes have over 100 more total yards than SMU, but a interception from Carson Beck in Miami territory set up an easy touchdown for the Mustangs to open the second quarter.

πŸͺœ UConn climbs the ladder

UConn wideout shows off his hops to moss the UAB corner for six. The Huskies are cruising, up 24-0 on the Blazers near the end of the first half.

Blue Devil quarterback Darian Mensah notched his third first quarter passing touchdown on this third down strike to the end zone. Duke leads Clemson 21-7 after the first 15 minutes in Death Valley.

✈️ Army attacking the sky against Air Force

The Black Knights pull out some trickery against the Falcons on third and long, as Noah Short hauls in a deep bomb from QB Cale Hellums for six. Army leads 7-3 early in the second quarter.
